In Honduras, a primary forest still exists in the heart of the Mosquitia. This intact tropical forest, a window open to a virgin world, is home to an incredible brightly colored lizard, the plumed basilisk (Basiliscus plumifrons), also called the green basilisk, the double-crested basilisk, or the Jesus Christ lizard. With its 80 cm long - its tail reaches 2/3 of the total length of its body – it is able to run very quickly across the surface of the water to escape its predators.
