Madine Lake has been classified as a National Hunting and Wild Fauna Reserve since 1998. Its avifauna is diverse and rich, and abundant aquatic vegetation and numerous reed beds border its shores. In 2014, a marina was created in the village of Nonsard-Lamarche that only accommodates sailing boats. Thermal engines are prohibited in favor of electric ones or sails. Madine Lake's waters are plentiful in fish. A 446 ft (1.36 m) pike, a carp weighing 64 lbs (28.9 kg), and a 6.23 ft (1.90 m) catfish were caught there.
