In the Cusuco National Park live unique frog species, such as the exquisite spike-thumb frog (Plectrohyla exquisita). Endemic to this area of the world, it is considered as critically endangered. In response to the fungus responsible for the decline of many amphibian species populations, the Honduras Amphibian Rescue and Conservation Center develops a scientific protocole to preserve the species.
