The Plectranthus scutellarioides is an ornamental plant native to Java that belongs to the genus Coleus of the Lamiaceae family. It is a perennial plant with short longevity whose well branched stems can reach 3.2ft (1m) high. Its purple inflorescence is carried at the end of the stems and its leaves are two-colored. It is known for its psychotomimetic properties used by Mazatec Indians in southern Mexico and its relaxing and slightly hallucinogenic effect during consumption.
