Extending above the beach, the embryonic dune forms the outpost of the white dune. This bulge of often reshuffled sand, where the wind draws regular waves, offers a monotonous, almost flat expanse populated by small, scattered plants. Among them, the sand grass (Agropyrum junceum), the pink French carnation (Dianthus gallicus), the bright yellow barberry (Sedum acre), the aromatic mauve thyme (Thymus serpyllum) or the yellow and white currants (Galium verum) all play a role in anchoring down the dunes.
