Indonesian maritime heritage icons with their 2 masts and 7 sails, the Pinisi continue to be built entirely by hand by the Bugis of Sulawesi respecting the techniques passed down from generation to generation. Beyond the tradition of carpentry and the human strength implemented, each stage of their construction involves rituals and prayers intended to invoke supernatural powers. At their launching, a goat or a cow is sacrificed during a final purification ceremony.
