Pig festival

For the Papuans of the Dani ethnic group of the Wamena region in the Baliem Valley, the pig festival is a big community feast where one or more pigs are sacrificed. Formerly dedicated to the celebration of one tribe's victory over another, it is now generally organized to celebrate good harvests of sweet potatoes and brings together all the clan families in the center of the village to cook and eat the animal.
