El Petirrojo de Gran Canaria (Erithacus rubecula marionae) es -por ahora- una subespecie del petirrojo europeo.
Las diferencias genéticas con el petirrojo europeo son tan importantes que recientes estudios recomiendan su reconocimiento como especie independiente.
Con el pinzón azul de Gran Canaria, se trata de una de las dos especies de aves exclusivas de la isla.
