Pedestrianization and redevelopment

In 2006, the redevelopment of the semicircled Place de la Libération by the urban architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte marked the first step in the pedestrianization of the city center of Dijon in the Côte-d'Or department. The emblematic central square of the city of the Dukes has been freed from the tarmac car park and the cars that occupied it to clear the air at the heart of Dijon and promote sustainable transport. In the center of the square, three illuminated fountains with gushing water jets offer games of water and light at night.
