In Honduras, the Garifuna people live mainly from subsistence agriculture. They build their boats for fishing, both at sea and in fresh water. Garifuna populations number more than 125,000 people, mainly in Central America, but large communities also live in the United States and Mexico. Nowadays, about 500,000 people would have Garifuna origins.
