During the 36-hour long crossing of the high seas between Tahiti and the Austral islands and the night rotations between the various islands of the archipelago, the crew members of the mixed cargo ships engage in big game fishing. These impressive wahoos (Acanthocybium solandri) hanging on the deck of the cargo ship are an example of their catches. This epipelagic species can measure up to 8.2ft (2.50m) and weigh up to 183lbs (83kg).
