On the outskirts of Dieppe, Hautot-sur-Mer displays a long pebble beach interspersed with small dikes. In 1822, the locality of the Seine-Maritime department merged with Appeville-le-Petit and Pourville-sur-Mer. With a hinterland made up of 71% agricultural land, Hautot-sur-Mer also houses the Dieppe Canadian War Cemetery dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the failed landing of 1942. The site is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
