Place d'Albertas in Aix-en-Provence was designed by Georges Vallon according to the Parisian fashion of royal squares. It is bordered by four small hotels with uniform facades and windows adorned with ironwork balconies illustrating the desire of the Albertas family to clear the entrance to their mansion on Rue Espariat and give a certain unity to the ensemble. The character of the place, evocative of peacefulness, lies in the balance of the lines - horizontal on the split walls of the ground floor and the moldings of the 2nd floor, vertical on the pilasters framing the two floors - and on the addition of a fountain in its center.
