Pasture management and tourism development

Long used for treading the harvest, the Camargue horse is also appreciated for leading herds in the marshes. Handy and hardy, this animal that lives outside all year round is also an excellent element for managing the most ungrateful pastures, from the marshes and wasteland which it grazes from spring to autumn to the sansouires (salty steppes) and stubble fields on which it feeds in winter. The Camargue horse is now more and more often requisitioned for leisure riding by tourists who set off to explore the Rhône delta.
