Jean Marais a sculpté cette statue en hommage à l’écrivain Marcel Aymé.
L’ « homme qui traverse le mur », œuvre inaugurée en 1989, représente bien-sûr le personnage principal du roman « Passe-Muraille ».
Des milliers de touristes venus du monde entier se font prendre en photo chaque jour près du personnage situé sur la place Marcel Aymé, au croisement de la rue Norvins et de la rue Girardon.
