Located 4 km (2.5 mi) from the village of Sainte-Lucie de Porto Vecchio, the Pinarellu Island is home to an eponymous tower of 13 m (43 ft) high, listed as a historical monument since 1992. Built at the end of the 16th century by the Genoese, it was burnt mid-seventeenth century by the Barbarians and then rebuilt. Its square construction distinguishes it from the majority of Genoese towers, an emblematic symbol of Corsican shores.
