One of the largest Roman bridges preserved in Gaul

The single arch anchored directly between two limestone fronts of the Ouvèze and its construction in large blocks of brickwork explain the solidity of the Roman bridge of Vaison-la-Romaine, which has resisted until today. With an arch opening of 48.5 ft (14.80 m) for a width of 31.8 ft (9.70 m), it is one of the largest Roman bridges preserved in Gaul. Although its appearance has evolved over the centuries, it has always withstood the deteriorations (floods of 1616 and 1992, German bombardment in 1944) and today presents a humpback profile similar to the one it had during Antiquity.
