The Cotentin donkey (Equus asinus) breed was officially recognized by the French Ministry of Agriculture in August 1997. Currently, the donkey is more and more involved with leisure activities in the framework of green tourism. Given its docility and morphology, it is perfectly suited for hiking and harnessing. Its gentle and calm character also makes it a wonderful pet animal. At Domaine d’Esthine, the donkey sometimes also serves therapeutic purposes for people with disabilities.
