Pandanus is a plant full of resources for the Pacific Island societies. Its red and fragrant fruits are used in wreaths and necklaces, as are its flowers. Its wood is used for tabletting and marquetry. As for its about 3.9in (10cm) wide and 6.5ft (2m) long leaves, they are put to dry in the trees, on the roofs or on the ground before being rolled up to be braided.
