The flight from Tontouta airport in Nouméa to Wanaham domestic airport, northeast of the island of Lifou in the Loyalty Islands Province, crosses Grande-Terre from west to east and flies over the Central Chain at the level of the Botanical Reserve of Mount Humboldt. One can then glimpse at Mount Humboldt, the second highest peak in New Caledonia with 5,308ft (1,618m).
