Ouvéa is a crescent-shaped atoll. Its lagoon is not filled, unlike those of the neighboring islands of Lifou and Maré, but partially closed by a series of reefs and islets (the North and South Pleiades) separated by the wide pass of Anemata. The main island, or Ohwen, to the north is connected to the southern crescent horn, or Laï, by the Mouli bridge which can be seen in this aerial shot.
