The forest massif of the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park covers an area of 20,000 hectares. Its three estate forests, the Chêne à la Vierge forest in Sermiers, the Verzy forest and its Faux biological reserve – twisted beech trees –, and the Hautvillers forest, are listed under the national label of Outstanding Forest. This label rewards “a project that brings together local actors committed to excellence around a heritage with affirmed values”. Fourteen French forests have been awarded this label by the ONF (‘Office national des forêts’).
