Polar bear on the lookout
1
0
The polar bear can stay still for long hours on the ice, waiting for a seal rising to the surface. From a single swat, it stuns it and can pull its prey out of the water. Its annual food needs correspond from 50 to 60 seals a year. It can eat up to 90 pounds (40 kgs) of meat a day and is able to swallow several pounds of fat in a few minutes! Its own fat layer can reach up to 30 cm thick.
