The site of Ostriconi is formed of a mosaic of environments where a wide diversity of animal species can thrive. The European pond turtle and the Tyrrhenian Painted Frog live in the mouth of the Ostriconi River. In the backshore, the ponds of Foce and Cannuta and their reedbeds home to amphibians, reptiles, insects and breeding birds. The Ostriconi’s dunes and wetlands are listed in the National Inventory of French Natural Heritage.
