The Explorers
Studies carried out since the end of the 1960s on the reef terraces of the island of Maré in the Loyalty Islands have demonstrated the presence of a series of fifteen terraces linked to eustatic fluctuations and tectonic deformations as well as a tilt towards the northeast of the whole island. The top part of the reef crown dates from the Upper Pleistocene.
