Erected in 1876 and occupied until 2012 by the sisters of the Notre-Dame de la Pitié community, the Franciscaines de Deauville building was refurbished by the architect Alain Moatti. Inaugurated on May 12, 2021, it is structured into five universes spread over two floors around the cloister in the form of a ribbon of knowledge whose loops house spaces for reading, working, showing, listening, and exchange. Each universe has its specific theme: The Horse Universe, the Youth Universe, the Art de Vivre Universe, the Deauville Universe, which relates the history of the city, its legend, and its evolution, and the Spectacle Universe, which highlights the stays and the creations of artists in the city.
