The Explorers
Saint-Lazarus Chapel in Gorbio is one of the only three chapels in the Alpes-Maritimes department to be dedicated to Saint Lazarus, the patron saint of lepers. All three monuments were built between the 11th and the 15th centuries, and the foundation of Saint-Lazarus Chapel probably dates back to the 12th century. The other two chapels are in Tende and Saint-Martin-Vésubie, both extending within the Mercantour National Park.
