The Lac de Saint-Agnan is one of the six great artificial lakes of Morvan. The lakes of Pannecière, Settons, Crescent, Chaumeçon, Chamboux, and Saint-Agnan were indeed created between 1854 and 1984 in the Morvan massif, in the heart of Burgundy. Their primary purpose was to supply local communities with water and to allow the storage of logs at the time of wood floating. Now highly touristic, they are still used for some to supply water, produce electricity, and, above all, regulate the waters of the tributaries of the Seine.
