Located in the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, Mont-Dore winter sports resort is one of the oldest French resorts after Montgenèvre and Chamonix. Its first slopes were equipped with two ski lifts in 1936 and later with a cable car inaugurated in 1937. Today they cover 25.4 miles (41 km) served by 14 ski lifts and divided into 31 slopes winding between 3,937 and 6,056 ft (1,200 and 1,846 m) of altitude.
