Once Protestant and Catholic

In the Middle Ages, most churches followed the same construction plan. The choir, surmounted by the steeple, was paid for by the lord and the nave by the believers. In 1437, the choir of Riquewihr's church was enhanced, as well as the bell tower, topped by an eight-sided spire. The temple was reserved for Protestant worship and then shared with Catholics from 1687. Unstable, it was destroyed and replaced by two churches in 1849. The new Protestant temple was erected on the same site and the Catholic church outside the ramparts. Both have a classified Stiehr-Mockers organ.
