The Upper Normandy coastline constitutes a unique landscape of vertical cliffs stretching over 130 km. The term Alabaster Coast refers to the white color of its chalky cliffs. The flora and the vegetation of these cliffs present a great specialization and certain morphological adaptations to resist the winds and the salt spray which constantly sweep the walls and the top of the cliffs (dwarf, fleshy, densely hairy plants). Among them, the Dune carnation (Dianthus armeria) brightens them with its five pink petals and spreads a subtle fragrance.
