The nyala is mainly found in the dense, covered forest biotopes of southeastern Africa, near water points. Not very fast, it stays under the protection of dense vegetation where it temporary lives in small family herds consisting of about ten individuals in the care of a dominant male. Then, the male usually moves away from the herd to go back to a solitary life. Very discreet, it is used to move slowly.
