Experts identify between seventeen and twenty-five different shades of ocher in the Provençal Colorado, depending on the area. Located east of Roussillon to the south of Rustrel, it constitutes the most spectacular of the Luberon's ocher sites by its palette of colors and the original tormented shapes it reveals. They partly stem from the Doa that, swollen with rainwater, has notched the various geological layers and exposed the white limestone and the ocher sandbanks over the centuries.
