The undistilled sprigs of lavender or lavandin are used to make fragrant objects to perfume and sanitize cupboards. Their very fragrant grains are collected to fill fabric sachets which, in addition to the odor released when they are lightly crushed, diffuse a perfume that repels certain insects such as moths or mites. The grains must be renewed approximately every two years in order to preserve their virtues and smell. Many by-products (perfume diffusers, soaps, cosmetics, etc.) and food products (honey, nougat, etc.) made from lavender are also offered to tourists by the farms of the Valensole plateau.
