In Corse-du-sud, on the coast of Sartene, the Cape of Roccapina attended many shipwrecks. About 3 km (2 mi) southwest of the rocky promontory, the islets of the Monks form a dangerous obstacle during storms. In the 19th century, the Indian ship Tasmania ran aground on these ledge rocks.
