The narwhal’s « tooth » is a precious tool for this animal that dives all winter to feed. It searches for fishes, squids, and, shrimps during dives of between 7 and 20 minutes, to depths reaching up to 1,500 meters. Unlike other subarctic cetaceans, the narwhal feeds sparsely in summer and intensely in autumn and winter.
