The narwhal (Monodon monoceros) dives regularly 1640ft (500m) deep and can descend beyond 4921ft (1500m) for more than 25mn. In winter, it finds its food at the bottom of the ocean up to nearly 6561ft (2000m) deep and hunts at the edge of the pack ice in spring. Toothless, it feeds mainly on Atlantic halibuts, cods, squids and shrimps by sucking its entire preys.
