Named after three young girls

A footbridge at the top of the Aval cliff leads to a crack between two karstic peaks. Known as the Chambre des Demoiselles (Maidens' Chamber), it is related to a sad legend. Three young girls are said to have hidden on the cliff to escape the Lord of Fréfossé chasing them. He had the crevasse where they hid closed and walled them up alive. Three doves were seen flying on the day of their funeral, and the legend tells that they appear at night in foggy weather.
