The muskox has a thick coat providing excellent insulation against the cold. Its short, stocky legs and large, rounded hooves help it to move through the snow. However, it is not well adapted to digging through heavy snow for food so is generally restricted to the Arctic tundra’s areas with shallower snow to feed more easily.
