At the top of the Meije cable car, the Girose glacier displays many glacial crevasses, natural openings created by the constant movements of the glacier. They can be several meters wide, reach up to 164 ft (50 m) in depth, and are particularly dangerous when they are covered by a snow bridge that conceals them. Thanks to the listening terminals installed at the Tourist Information Office in La Grave, visitors can discover the sounds of the Girose glacier in motion recorded by sound artists.
