Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, a village crossed by the Riou

Famous for its location at the entrance to the gorges of Verdon, the village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department is located on either side of the steep Riou ravine spanned by a stone bridge. The Riou then flows into the Maïre, itself a tributary of the Verdon which it joins in the lake of Sainte-Croix. A section of its course is used for canyoning in the summer season.
