La rivière Nonette a vu la construction de 31 moulins (dénombrés au début du 19ème siècle. Ils permettaient de moudre le blé, de tanner les peaux, ou de blanchir les draps. Il n’en restait que 17 au début du 20ème siècle, puis à peine une dizaine au début des années 1950. Celui de Villemétrie a fonctionné jusqu’en 1967.
