This miniature wooden watermill - on display in the workshop of the wood turner Robert Marichy in Arinthod in the Jura department - pays tribute to this invention which dates back to Antiquity and experienced a real expansion in the Middle Ages. The driving force of water was then more and more used for sawmills, grain mills, looms, metalworking and even paper making until the arrival of the steam engine in the nineteenth century.
