Floral art on the handrail
0
0
After the World Exposition in Paris, Art Nouveau was at its peak. It appeared on Lalique's jewelry and vases, on Daum's lamps, and the handrail of Villa Majorelle's staircase. Louis Majorelle asked the architect Henri Sauvage to draw a model that he would implement. Its ivy foliage climbs the ramp, decreasing as it rises until finally disappearing, creating a perspective effect. Mimicking ivy, the oak banister and the baluster twist along the staircase, reinforcing the floral aspect of the ensemble.
