The ninety-two islands and islets of Provence and Côte d´Azur (French Riviera) are mostly (86%) owned by the public domain of the French State. 44% belong to the public maritime domain (DPM) and 42% directly to the State, including 22% to the Coastal Protection Agency. Only 9% of the islands and islets, representing a total of eight, are wholly or mostly private. The remaining islets are either not registered or investigated.
