The long and narrow wings of the Northern Fulmar (Fulmarus glacialis) are configured to withstand the extreme weather conditions of the Arctic Zone. They give it a particular flexibility and strength in its movements. Adept of gliding, the Northern Fulmar flies close to the waves. Equipped with a desalting gland, it drinks the sea water and rejects the salt through its nostrils.
