Morphological adaptation to cold

Originating from northern regions, sled dogs have a morphological adaptation to cold. They have three layers of fur : a layer of down, a layer of undercoat (fluff hairs) and a layer of longer jar hairs on the surface of their coat. Their ears are relatively small so as not to get cold and are protected by hairs on the outside and inside. Their paws are terminated by very hard pads isolated by a thick layer of fat.
