Morning fish market on the Vieux-Port

The fish market of the Vieux-Port (Old Port) of Marseille is historically held on the Quai de la Fraternité along the Quai des Belges at the eastern end of the port. Every morning from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, around ten small artisanal fishermen unload the fresh fish they have caught locally during the night and at daybreak. The fish is sold there by weight and at auction by the fishermen themselves or their relatives. Each shipment is different and brings diversity and cooking perspectives to the local population, restaurateurs, and visitors.
