La Meije is a mountain of the Oisans basin located on the border of the Hautes-Alpes and Isère departments on the northwestern edge of the Écrins massif. It constitutes its second-highest peak after the Barre des Écrins. Its name designates a set of three peaks composed of the Grand Pic de la Meije, its highest point at 13,067 ft (3,983 m), the Pic Central de la Meije or Doigt de Dieu (God's Finger) (13,034 ft / 3,973 m), and the snowy shoulder of the Meije Orientale (12,765 ft / 3,891 m).
