D'après les historiens, il semble qu'Hugues ait été acclamé roi par l'assemblée de Senlis (peut-être le 3 juin) puis couronné et sacré roi le 3 juillet à Noyon Ce monogramme apparait pour la première fois sur un document daté de 989.
